He is a diverse, well rounded and technologically savvy professional with twenty years experience in many facets of fresh produce handling including Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Vender Development, Wholesale Marketing, Post Harvest Management, Project Planning, Sourcing, Exports, Packaging, Value Addition and Imports etc. He has extensive hands on experience in building resourceful teams to manage various sourcing and marketing programs in Horticulture, Dairy and Agriculture sectors from conceptualization to implementation. He is widely traveled within India and abroad and maintains excellent contacts in horticultural commodity industry.

Lately, as a Business Head (Fruit & Vegetables) for REI Six Ten Retail Ltd, a 375 store plus pan Indian retail chain under 6Ten brand, he has been instrumental in quickly turnaround a bloated, wholesale market driven supply chain into a thin and lean ‘direct from supply source’ driven low cost distribution model in first one and a half month of joining without disturbing the running operations since last two years.

Earlier, as an AVP and Business Head with Reliance Retail Ltd. between Oct 2006 and March 2009, he had spearheaded quick establishment of Fruit & Vegetables operations for Reliance’s ambitious retail initiative in flagship territory of Delhi / NCR & Haryana. With 147 Reliance Fresh format stores, 6 Hyper Markets, 5 distribution cum consolidation centres and a dozen produce Collection Centers in rural hinterland of three States, Delhi / NCR region presently represents the largest chunk of Reliance Fresh across India.

Prior to that as Head of the Subhiksha’s Horticulture  Business for North India till 5th October 2006, he initiated setting up of a 100 Crore fruit & vegetable retail and semi-wholesale business (first ever category entry for Comapny) for 140 plus Subhiksha discount stores in Delhi as an independent profit centre basis. He had made 55 stores operational all across Delhi before moving on to Reliance Retail Ltd. Initiation of Fruit and vegetable business gave Subhiksha a tremendous initial response, unexpected customer pull and good business for later launch of phamacy, mobile and super market business.

As Head of the Business development group with Safal F&V Market, Bangalore before his stint at Subhiksha, he had developed a supplier base across Northern / Western / Eastern India to cater to it’s requirements in relation to sourcing of stored and fresh produce. His interests there also included spearheading Safal Market’s drive to develop markets and buyers in his territory for marketing of horticultural commodities available through Safal Market’s supply infrastructure in South / North / West India and also to develop market for its state of the art cold store in Bangalore.

At behest of NDDB in 1999, he had studied, conceptualized and prepared horticulture supply chain management and marketing plans for various Indian states like Kerala, Karnataka, Uttaranchal and Jharkhand in the recent past. One such study for Karnataka culminated in establishment of NDDB’s Rs 150 Crore Safal Market project at Bangalore. 

From 1987 onwards, he had handled sourcing / procurement / supply chain function for fruit and vegetable category for Mother Dairy's Safal Fruit & Vegetable Project dealing directly with farmers, farmers SHGs / Associations / Wholesale Markets / Local Mandies / NGOs / Cooperatives / Corporates / Importers / Transporters etc. During this span he handled various leadership positions at different locations spread all across India. 

His professional skills in PC environment includes extensive experience with Windows / Macintosh / Linux systems & software for word processing, presentations, spread sheet, database management , decision support systems on SAP, web designing while Mainframe skills relates to Digital RDBMS on Unix platform using Oracle database and Uniplex advance automation package. He is well versed in use of Internet for information, communication, computing and entertainment. He is widely travlled within India and abroad and is also experienced in public relations, corporate communications and event management.
