Lately, as Founder and Managing Director at Competent Agri Solutions Pvt Ltd, food & agribiz consulting company and Field Fresh Vegfru Pvt Ltd. a supply chain solutions company, he is donning role of a potent leader who is engaged in exponential multiplication of his expertise, knowledge and beliefs in transformation of primitive, traditional agricultural marketing systems into a modern, transparent and efficient platform thereby significantly contributing to the Indian economy.

2. REI Six Ten Retail Ltd – REI Agro Ltd was established in the year 1994 with a vision to consolidate the fragmented basmati rice industry. In a short span of time it rose to the position of an undisputed leadership in the industry. REI Agro launched its 6Ten chain of retail outlets in last quarter of the fiscal of 2006-7 as part of its objective to get closer to end customer. With 371 neighborhood stores in 9 Indian States presently, 6Ten is a retail brand to reckon with. REI Six Ten Retail Ltd made a dream debut when the retail undertaking of REI Agro was demerged into REI Six Ten Retail Ltd and its equity shares of got listed in the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange on April 27, 2009 on a turnover of Rs 1863 Crores. Inducted with an express brief to quickly turnaround a bloated, wholesale market driven supply chain into a thin and lean ‘direct from supply source’ driven low cost distribution model, he quickly achieved the objectives in a span of just one and a half month only without disturbing the running operations since last two years. Reliance Retail Ltd (RRL) – As a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries ltd, RRL is gearing up to revolutionize the retailing industry in India and is aggressively working on introducing a pan-India network of retail outlets in multiple formats. A world class shopping environment, state of art technology, a seamless supply chain infrastructure, a host of unique value-added services and above all, unmatched customer experience, is what this initiative is all about

Ensuring better returns to Indian farmers and manufacturers and greater value for the Indian consumer, both in quality and quantity, will be an integral feature of this project. The project will boast of a seamless supply chain infrastructure, unprecedented even by world standards. Through multiple formats and a wide range of categories, Reliance is aiming to touch almost every Indian customer and supplier.

AVP (Agri. & Food Supply Chain) - Location Delhi

Supported by a band of young professionals, he has spearheaded quick establishment of Fruit & Vegetables backend operations for Reliance’s ambitious retail initiatives in flagship territory of Delhi / NCR.

Job entailed capacity building in terms of sourcing fresh produce directly from production / supply areas across the country, establishment of world class large infrastructure complexes at various locations around Delhi to handle, process, consolidate fresh produce, relationship building with hundreds of stakeholders across the chain, organization of a market intelligence network, end to end IT and Communication enablement, logistics planning and of course an overall strategic team building effort to launch of large number of Reliance Fresh stores in Delhi / NCR in a short span just of 2 months.

As an AVP and Business Head, he has spearheaded quick establishment of Fruit & Vegetables operations for Reliance’s ambitious retail initiative in flagship territory of Delhi / NCR. With 147 Reliance Fresh format stores, 6 Hyper Markets, 5 distribution cum consolidation centres and a dozen produce Collection Centers in rural hinterland of three States, Delhi / NCR region presently represents the largest chunk of Reliance Fresh across India. Distribution operations in the region are also most complex by virtue of Inter-State product movement being full of administrative and regulatory restrictions.

Team is into thick operations mode since January 2007 with ever increasing no of stores. Few of the distribution and techno initiatives undertaken by the local team are industry first in organized sector and have completely rebuild the supply chain value proposition for perishable produce.

4. Subhiksha, a Chennai based supermarket and pharmacy discount chain, opened the doors of its first store in 1997. With 140 stores and a expected turnover of Rs 330 Crore in 2006, Subhiksha is planning to become a multi-city operator soon. The next 12-18 months will see Subhiksha setting up around 500 plus stores in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, NCR of Delhi, Western UP, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Mumbai, Pune, Nasik etc.

Head of Business Operation (Fruit & Vegetable) – North Unit – Location Delhi

Based at Delhi till 5th October 2006 as Head of the Subhiksha’s horticulture business in North Unit, he initiated setting up a 100 Crore fruit & vegetable retail and semi-wholesale business for upcoming 140 Subhiksha stores in Delhi. The business will run as an independent profit centre basis and entails quick establishment of a supply chain that fits into Subhiksha’s overall discount retailing strategy. After Delhi, Subhiksha has ambitious plans to fan out in Haryana, UP, Punjab and Chandigarh. He had made 55 stores operational all across Delhi by 26th September 2006 which has given Subhiksha a tremendous initial response, unexpected customer pull and good business.

Status as on 5th October 2006

• 55 Subhiksha Fresh stores in operation at prime locations all across sprawling metro city of Delhi since August 2006.
• Software integration when fully operational in coming few weeks shall be first initiative of its kind in Indian Fresh produce industry.
• Soft launch - Catchment and target customer focused low cost but highly effective promos. Full fledged media launch to happen shortly when all businesses at stores go live.
• 60% of planned volumes and 80% Gross Margin targets in first fortnight of launch itself.
• Tremendous initial response, unexpected customer pull, good customer feedback - Good business.
• Market information system designed and placed across all the retail, wholesale markets and supply areas in and around the metro city during last couple of months has started yielding dividends.
• Strategic teams for Backend (Sourcing & Procurement), Warehouse, Logistics, Front-end (Sales & Marketing), Market Information Systems, MIS, Merchandising, Training and Manpower Development getting hands-on experience. – Teams are working 24x7 with great enthusiasm.
• Warehouse, Suppliers, Hardware Vendors, Strategic Business partners, Collaborators, legal formalities and other backend infrastructure etc in real time test mode. – No major hiccups or show stoppers.
• Stores fit-outs and allied retail infrastructure is in various stages of readiness at many locations in NCR. Good numbers are expected to be available for impending launch in next couple of weeks for 2nd Phase in Delhi and sub cities of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Sahibabad.
•  Teams are raring to go for 3rd phase launch of another 28 outlets on 25th September 2006
• National sourcing team of the Unit have already arranged Potato, Onion, Tomato, Apple etc for recently commissioned stores in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmadabad apart from maintaining routine supplies for Delhi Stores.

5.     Safal Auction Market, Bangalore, a brain child of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) which has been established to usher in a new chapter to the business of wholesaling horticultural commodities in India.

Business Development Group – North / West / East operations – Location Delhi

As Head of the group he was inducted to develop a supplier base across Northern / Western / Eastern India to cater to Safal Market’s requirements in relation to sourcing of stored and fresh produce. His responsibilities also include development of markets and buyers in his territory for marketing of horticultural commodities available through Safal Market’s supply infrastructure in South India.

6.       Mother Dairy Foods Processing Limited, owners and marketer of Mother Dairy, Dhara and Safal brands of dairy, vegetable oils and horticultural products, Delhi, India. Current turnover is over Rs 1500 Crore. The company is wholly owned by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) - an organisation of National importance. (1987 - Contd.)

Strategy Planning & Business Development Group (Agri-business)

 (November 2003 – July 2004)

With a vision to expand its Agri. business interests in India and abroad, NDDB inducted him in this group, as a supply chain expert, to formulate commercially viable food sector projects in various States in India and abroad. His key role was to provide strategic support wherever his strengths can be utilized to promote Safal Market concept.

As a Head of the Group, he was inducted to revamp the supply chain management processes for Company’s processed food products.

Planning & Development Group

(4 Years)

As Head of the Strategy Planning & Business Development Group, he co-coordinated the long-range strategy planning and business development activities for company's agribusiness interests.  He collaborated on a prestigious feasibility study for the Government of India on the alternate fruit and vegetables marketing structures, as an Agri-business Management expert. This study has culminated in establishment of a megaton fruit and vegetable auction market project by NDDB at Bangalore. As a team leader, he formulated horticulture development plans, including technology integrated backward and forward linkages, for the states of Kerala, Uttaranchal and Jharkhand.

His other interests in the group included spear heading company's drive to induct and integrate new technological advancements like Wireless communication networks, Remote Sensing, Smart cards, Internet based applications etc. into existing fruit & vegetable procurement and marketing business processes.

He also led two groups involved in business process review and performance management systems for horticultural Units of the Company.

Procurement Group

(10 Years)

As a Group Head he was responsible for planned procurement of fruit and vegetables from growers' / farmers' organisations, wholesale markets, corporate houses all over the country at competitive prices as per company's Quantity requirements, Quality Specifications, Delivery Schedules and Packaging Standards in a thoroughly on-line computerised environment. Responsibilities included development of farmers’ organisation and their infrastructure, logistics, management of extension services and a technical input programme to support planned procurement from farm institutions.

7.  Milkfed , Punjab - A Federation of 10 Distt. Milk Cooperatives and owners of "Verka", a well-known milk products brand in India.  (1981 -1987)

Technical Input Group

As a Head Technical Input Group, he was responsible for development of a dedicated group of contract farmers for an innovative seed production programme and management of milk production enhancement services though animal nutrition programme to support planned procurement of milk.
